NGH NHS Trust opening times for Blood taking unit and Paediatrics


From Tuesday the 31st of March there are changes to the Blood Taking Unit at NGH. In order to keep patients safe at this time we are redirecting parts of this service to The Three Shires Hospital.


If you require a blood test you will need to contact the hospital to make an appointment on these numbers:

Three Shires will offer appointments Monday to Friday during the following times:


Monday -Friday 9am - 12:30pm and  13:30pm - 17:00pm


If you are a patient of our Maternity Unit they will make arrangements for you to have your bloods taken and you do not need to attend the Three Shires.


If your child requires a blood test the Blood Taking Unit t NGH will be open on Mondays from 10am-11am for paediatric patients only.

Special Arrangements due to Coronavirus.

We are following the advice of the Government in changing the way we provide our services as from 13/3/20

  1. Regardless of your travel or contact history, patients must not come to the surgery if they have a new persistent cough or a fever (raised temperature).
  2. Patients should self isolate for 7 days if they have these symptoms.
  3. If anyone in your household has the symptoms you and any other co-habitees must self isolate for 14 days.
  4. If the symptoms worsen and you need advice should contact
  5. All new Surgery appointments can only be made by telephone, not at the Surgery
  6. Please do not come to the Surgery unless you have an appointment, and do not have symptoms.
  7. Prescriptions can be ordered by placing your requests in the box in the foyer of the Surgery, by emailing, or via systmonline.
  8. All prescriptions will be sent to nominated pharmacies electronically.
  9. On line booking of appointments has been temporarily suspended.
  10. Most new appointments will be  over the telephone or by video (Reception will advise if this is the case).
  11. Our Receptionists will advise how best to handle any other requests.

 Vulnerable patients

The NHS has contacted patients considered particularly at risk from the virus by letter, giving advice on self care and isolation. In addition, the Practice will be contacting a small number of patients considered at particular high risk with similar advice.
